Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to atxatx.com and the community, marketplace, messaging, account, and Austin Karma features we provide through it (collectively, the “Service”).

It does not cover websites or services operated by other people or companies, even when the Service links to them. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Information we collect

Account and profile

Email address, username, display name, password in encrypted form, bio, avatar, phone number, and the location you choose to provide.

Content and communications

Posts, comments, listings, photos, votes, reports, community activity, and direct messages you create or send.

Marketplace and Karma activity

Listing status, transaction records, Karma balance and ledger activity, wallet identifiers, and trust or verification status.

Device and usage

IP address, sign-in history, browser or device information, pages visited, search queries, and security or diagnostic logs.

If you provide a neighborhood or other location, we may derive approximate coordinates so we can show nearby listings and communities. Please avoid posting a precise home address publicly.

How we use information

Provide, personalize, and maintain the Service, including nearby content and marketplace results.
Create and secure accounts, authenticate sign-ins, and recover account access.
Deliver messages, notifications, support, and important service or policy updates.
Operate Karma, voting, trust, verification, and marketplace transaction features.
Detect spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
Moderate content, investigate reports, resolve disputes, and enforce our rules.
Understand performance and usage, troubleshoot problems, and improve the Service.
Comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and property of our users and others.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information in these limited circumstances:

With other users. Profile details, posts, comments, votes, listings, and other public activity are visible to people using the Service. Direct messages are shared with conversation participants.

With service providers. Vendors that help us host, secure, operate, analyze, or communicate about the Service may process information for us under appropriate restrictions.

For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our agreements, or protect someone’s rights or safety.

In a business transaction. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

At your direction. We share information when you ask us to, give us permission, or use a feature that is designed to share it.

Public information

atxatx is built for public local conversation and discovery. Your username, display name, bio, Karma, community memberships, posts, comments, votes, and listings may be visible to anyone, including people without an account, and may appear in search results.

Information you share publicly can be copied, reshared, or retained by others. Removing content or closing an account may not remove copies made by other people or information we must retain for safety, legal, or recordkeeping purposes.

Cookies and similar tools

We use cookies and similar local storage technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect forms and accounts, prevent abuse, and understand whether the Service is working correctly.

You can control cookies through your browser. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other features from working.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate purposes such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and enforcement. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and why we hold it. We may keep de-identified information that no longer identifies you.

Your choices and rights

You can review and update certain profile and account information in your account settings, remove content where the Service provides that option, or close your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a privacy request, email privacy@atxatx.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Security and children

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so use a unique password and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can address it.

We may update this policy as the Service changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and provide additional notice when required by law. Your continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to your use of the Service.
